Dr Susan ML Lim FRCS PhD Chairman & CEO Stem Cell Technologies(i) |
Stem Cell Technologies(i) (SCTi) was established by Dr Susan Lim to conduct research into Adult Stem Cells. Dr Susan Lim holds both surgical degrees and a doctorate (PhD) in basic science (transplantation immunology), and is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
|
The focus at SCTi is on human adult progenitor cells derived predominantly from adipose tissue, which is an abundant and accessible source. Adipose derived Adult Progenitor (ADAP) cells have multipotent characteristics, with the potential to differentiate into adipocytes, cardiomyocytes, chondrocytes, neuronal cells and osteoblasts.
Our team has optimised the isolation protocols for maximising the yield of ADAP cells. We are in the process of characterizing these cells as well as differentiating them along the various lineage pathways.
| SCTi has, as one of its projects, a joint venture with the National University of Singapore to undertake specific research into adult stem cells as cell replacement therapy for diabetes. In this project, the three lead Scientists are Professor Bernat Soria, Sir Roy Y Calne, and Dr Susan ML Lim. |
